A message from Joe, Adam and Suzie to our Beautiful Friends

We struggle to put in to words how our day makes us feel. Always such a mix of emotions, too impossibly complex to describe. We're so very grateful for the love and support given abundantly and unquestionably by our whole extended family and beautiful friends, old and new, who continue to bless us with their time, energy and resources to make this day happen. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you all, whether you were able to join us with your physical presence or with us in spirit - we felt you there too! And it’s not just today, it’s every day.

We can never begin to fill the void that Alice has left behind - for those of you who didn’t have the privilege of meeting her, she truly is a remarkable person. Astonishingly wise, compassionate, considerate, courageous, determined and kind. She walked this earth with a heart full of love, a strong sense of justice and a drive to be the change we all talk about, but rarely actually achieve. A precious treasure who touched and gently, passionately moulded so many lives, shaping the people we have become today.

For those of you not aware, we lost our precious girl, along with her wonderful friend Summer, whose parents Sarah and Yamm are now lifelong friends of ours, in the sea. Alice was an exceptionally strong and competent swimmer and loved the water. The girls were paddling and playing with friends along the shallow, calm shoreline and were suddenly - and without warning - caught in a rip current which they simply couldn't escape. We can't let this moment pass without pleading with you to educate yourselves and your loved ones about the dangers of rips, they are present in the UK and all over the world and they CAN be deadly - but there ARE ways of spotting them AND ways of giving yourself the best chance of surviving one if you do get caught. For details click here, or just google rip currents, the information is out there and WILL save lives.

Beautiful Alice Festival is about coming together with hope and compassion to celebrate Alice and Summer and all that they stood for - choosing kindness, smiles and love in a way that would make our girls proud. So please join us in thought as you share this beautiful moment with your family, friends and loved ones and spare a moment for our Beautiful Alice, Wonderful Summer, and for all those less fortunate than us who, through them, we are supporting with our celebration.

Together we are shining a light, together we are making a difference, together we are stronger. Thank you.

For Alice and Summer, our inspiration.

With love always,

Joe & Adam - Alice's cousins, and Suzie - Alice's mum XXX
